CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

When 4/5 of your team is women, International Women’s Day is kind of a big deal👩‍💻💪 We took a moment to reflect on what being a woman means to us, and to thank the strong women who brought us here.

LIS THOMAS (CEO)

WHAT DOES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

For me, it’s a day of reflection and support. I feel a strong sense of pride and joy in the work that women around the world have put into creating an environment of equal opportunity with our peers. And, it’s a day to support all the kick ass women we know out there!

WHO IS ONE WOMAN YOU LOOK UP TO AND WHY?

In my personal life, I hold my sisters, mom, and mother-in-laws in the highest regard. All of us have had different life experiences that have allowed us to grow as women and demonstrate our value, but each of these lovely women has done it in a way I respect. The woman I hold in the highest regard right now is Hillary Clinton. She is a constant reminder to me of the work we need to do to support our fellow sisters out there, create an environment of positivity around powerful women, and encourage our daughters to reach for their highest dreams.

WHAT IS ONE ACHIEVEMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF?

I am proud to be a college graduate. So many of the women in my family in this generation and before were not able to attend college. Graduating with a college degree opened up all the doors I needed to get to where I am today, and I am forever grateful to the people and organizations who helped me gain a degree in higher education.

MICHELLE ROATS (PRESIDENT)

WHAT DOES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

To be honest, I didn’t realize that today was International Women’s Day when I woke up. I kissed my husband good morning, showered, and headed into my office where I was met by a group of women ready to kick ass. And, I’m inspired.

This day is certainly about slowing down from our personal daily grind, taking a bit of time to honor the women who have made contributions in our own lives or those who we admire, but ultimately, for me, it’s about asking myself the question, “what’s next?”

Today is a great opportunity to examine the room we have to grow in our personal development, families, work and society. And, then, make a plan to do it.

WHO IS ONE WOMAN YOU LOOK UP TO AND WHY?

I tend to look up to specific qualities in women for leadership or inspiration. I’ve noticed that intelligent women who have a natural strength of confidence, and at the same time, a genuine humility, generally demonstrate kindness and honesty in their lives. Those qualities transcend any situation.

WHAT IS ONE ACHIEVEMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF?

A personal achievement I’m particularly proud of is taking the leap from a steady career to owning my own business for the past two years. Dreaming of a future, setting goals and then creating that life for yourself is so empowering. That said, I’m just getting started!

TASHIA DAVIS (DIGITAL CONTENT STRATEGIST)

WHAT DOES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

Given the current political climate, today feels more important than ever. I donated to Planned Parenthood this morning to try and help women around the country, and I’m working to recognize the women who inspire me here at home.

WHO IS ONE WOMAN YOU LOOK UP TO AND WHY?

I look up to my mother. She’s one of the most kind-hearted, caring, sweet people you’ll ever meet. She works with the special needs kids at a high school here in town, and it requires an incredible amount of strength and patience. And, of course, I look up to Lis and Michelle as mentors and badass digital marketers!

WHAT IS ONE ACHIEVEMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF?

I’m proud of myself for taking the year off after graduation to travel. It was scary and uncomfortable at times, and it required me to take a year off from jumping into a “real” job after college, but it was also the best year of my life. I’m so thankful that I jumped in and went for it.

SOPHIA CLARK (OPERATIONS MANAGER)

WHAT DOES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

A day to recognize how much women do for our society and the value of females.

WHO IS ONE WOMAN YOU LOOK UP TO AND WHY?

My mother–a strong independent woman who worked multiple jobs as a single mom to take care of me and my brother.

WHAT IS ONE ACHIEVEMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF?

I am proud of my tenacity in personal and professional life. Building a life I love (buying a home in a place I love with my boyfriend who I love) and going to school to get my masters in a career that is inspiring.
